How Many Times Can You Apply for Planning Permission?

When applying for planning permission, it’s important to understand how the system works and what deadlines you have to work with. You must also know what your options are if you don’t get approved initially. It’s not rare that your first application will be denied.

Is there a limit to how many times you can apply for planning permission?

There is no limit to how many times you can apply for planning permission for a single project. You are free to adjust and resubmit your application as soon as you’ve been denied. In fact, many projects go through at least several applications before they are finally approved.

The only important factor to observe here is that you actually take any feedback into consideration and apply it to your renewed application. Simply submitting the same application again will quickly draw the ire of planning officers, and they might bar you from making further applications until you’ve made larger adjustments.

Deadlines to observe when applying for planning permission after a rejection

There is no deadline for submitting a new application for planning permission after you’ve been rejected. There is no waiting period either – you can submit your new application right away.

Keep in mind that if you submit your new application within 12 months of the last rejection, you won’t have to pay any fees. It can therefore be useful to be as fast as possible in adjusting your application and submitting it again.
